The stipple technique was a preliminary drawing technique used during the Renaissance. Very few artists today use stipple for overall drawing due to the amount of time and patience required. Stipple produces a very soft and sophisticated appearance as compared to line techniques used by most pen & ink artists and architects.

Stipple drawing with ink is similar to pointilism in painting. My drawings are 100% by hand. No computer or any other tool is used besides my hand, a ruler, a pencil, my pen and a prayer. The drawings are comprised of thousands of strategically placed tiny ink dots. The technique produces a very soft and elegant look, not one that can be harsh as in some ink line drawings. Very few pen & ink artists use stipple to complete an entire drawing because of the time and patience required. It has become my trademark!

Great gift idea! Place of a wedding, old family homestead, vacation home, new office, birthday, anniversary or Christmas gift for the one who has everything! Chip in with your siblings to order one for your parents or grandparents.

These stipple drawings reduce beautifully to note card size. Have note cards made for thank you notes, party invitations or Christmas cards.

I have drawn churches whose membership made note cards from the original to sell for a fundraiser for their youth ministry.
